Science becomes the link between money, buildings and future capability. Use the Research Center to open the energy and propulsion paths while the construction team prepares propellant storage. The five objectives below are the chapter requirements; they are not a demand to build every newly unlocked facility.

Your route through the chapter

Optional checklist · saved in this browser only.
Bring the Research Center online
The initial facility costs $540,000 and uses 4 MW and six staff at base level. Make sure the base can support it before starting more optional construction.
Complete Energy Systems I and II
Research I first, then II. These unlock battery storage and wind generation. The chapter asks for the research itself; it does not require you to buy a battery and a turbine.
Complete Propulsion Engine I
This opens the next propulsion work and awards a $1 million research grant. It also activates patent income. Keep the new funds available for tanks and the upcoming qualification program.
Commission two Propellant Tanks
Build and finish two tanks. Their stock provides propellant for future engine tests, and their existence is required to start Rocket Propellant I.
Research Rocket Propellant I
Complete Propulsion Engine I and finish both tanks first. Then research the first propellant topic to close the chapter.
When progress stops
Common blockers
Rocket Propellant I is still locked
It needs both the earlier propulsion research and two operational tanks. Check the tank count, not only whether the buildings are visible.
The research queue is full
The initial Research Center has one active lane. Let its current task finish; a Level 2 upgrade later provides two simultaneous lanes.
Do I need every energy building?
No. Use energy buildings to solve actual capacity needs. The chapter completion test asks for Energy Systems I and II, not a particular mix of new generators.
