What offline play means in Mars47
The base simulation and campaign state are handled locally. Building, research and the decisions within your installed campaign do not depend on a website sending you the next move. The game also writes campaign saves to the device.
That is the part relevant to playing away from Wi-Fi. It is different from saying every connected feature works without a network, or guaranteeing every device and store installation state. Before relying on a game for a journey, open the version installed on your own iPhone or iPad and check it with a connection disabled.
What still needs an internet connection?
| Activity | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Installed campaign | The simulation and campaign saves run locally on the device. |
| Downloading or updating | The App Store needs a connection. Complete this before departure. |
| Game Center | Sign-in, online comparisons and server reporting require connectivity. Availability varies by released version. |
| Website, video and contact form | These are online resources. Open useful guides before you leave. |
| Moving to another device | A local save does not by itself establish automatic cross-device synchronization. |
Check online services separately from the campaign. An online dashboard needs connectivity even when the base simulation is available locally. Reconnect when you want to use those services; online reporting behavior can differ between versions.
A five-minute check before you travel
- Install and open the game while connected. Finish downloads or updates and confirm that the app launches.
- Create or open the campaign you want. Check that you recognize the base and objective.
- Make a local save. Give it a useful name if your version offers named slots.
- Disable the connection and reopen the app. On a phone or cellular iPad, check both Wi-Fi and mobile data; Airplane Mode can leave Wi-Fi enabled.
- Load, play briefly and save again. Confirm the result on your own device before the journey.
Keep the installed app and its local data in place. Removing the app can remove locally stored progress. Do not delete or reinstall it as an offline troubleshooting experiment.
Offline play is not offline resource production
In discussions of mobile games, “offline” can mean two different things: playing without a network, or earning resources while the app is closed. Mars47’s local campaign should be understood in the first sense. Do not plan a mission around assumed closed-app production.
When returning to a session, inspect the current mission and the state of the base. Plan the next step from the resources and operational facilities you can actually see. If you left a project waiting on staff, power or a prerequisite, reconnecting to the internet is not the same as solving that dependency.
How to choose an offline space strategy game
Look beyond an “offline” label. Ask whether the main campaign is local, whether a new installation needs an initial connection, where progress is saved and which extra services are online. Also check the kind of activity you want: piloting, ship tactics and managing a ground operation are different ways to enjoy a space game.
Mars47 is a fit when you want to build the spaceport behind the mission. Roads, facilities, research and the order of expansion form the core loop. Our iPad base-building guide explains those decisions; the space-game guide helps you compare play styles.
Before you lose the connection
Read the beginner tutorial and note your next mission objective. If you encounter a problem during the offline check, reconnect and use the contact form. Include your device, app version and the step that failed; never include an Apple Account password or verification code.
Use the official download links below to inspect the current store listing. Check compatibility on the actual device you intend to take, rather than assuming that another iPhone or iPad’s installation proves yours is ready.
